"Yes, well we still have to find them," Jessica says, "and I still need to shower."

"If I may be so bold as to offer my services, I do have several years of experience dealing with ones such as the Rakdos. I'm also quite skilled at detecting life, or unlife as it may be. Perhaps I could accompany you in searching for these scoundrels."

[Kindulas]

"Well, I would hesitate to have you search if you cannot do it highly remotely... though... my abilities are quite limited at this stage, and Sebastian and Vash prefer to be more nocturnal... I'm sure we could put your abilities to the test. However, if you are to wander outside to find them, would you prefer to wait until the cover of night? It's most advisable... but I'm sure you're aware of that. I personally get up earlier to scan for trouble, but we prefer to operate at night when there aren't pressing matters since the 'authorities' aren't fans of us. And because Vash dislikes the sun, of course."

[Lapis-Lazily]

"I've been operating at night for years now. This is actually very off-schedule for me. You've either forgotten or just didn't know that, thanks to the Orzhov, I'm an outlaw in this city. The Azorius aren't exactly happy with me either after what I did to one of their senators."

[Kindulas]

"Oh believe me I know, I was thinking you probably did."

[Lapis-Lazily]

"Very well. What is there to do before nightfall?"

[Kindulas]

"Well," Jess says, "I tinker and keep a lookout. Olnar doesn't have a price on his head, so we usually send him out for daylight scraps..."

"Might I challenge you to a game of chess, sir?" Jeeves asks, "if you fancy yourself a tactician."

"Furthermore," Jess says, "This might interest you Erin, especially, I forgot to mention we have a second layer set aside as a sort of training/practice rink. I have training dummies and things set up I use for target practice."

[Nehiel Mori]

"OOOOOH! Take me there now!" Erin says, landing down in front of Jessica.

[Lapis-Lazily]

Volker smiles a tad.

"Why, that sounds wonderful. I very much enjoy a good chess match."

[Kindulas]

"Alright Erin, I'm going to shower, then I'll show you the basement." [This subplot followed in MEANWHILE]

Jeeves, meanwhile, fetches a chess set while Volker assumedly attains a second meal

[Jentaru]

Olnar smiles slightly. "I suppose I can take my normal post. But some more action would be appreciated. Price or not, I want to do more than mop up other peoples left overs."

[Lapis-Lazily]

Volker finishes the meal and looks to the board set up before him, then at Jeeves.
"It has been quite a while sine my last game of chess, please forgive me for being a little rusty. Now, since you have so kindly set this up, I'll leave the choice to you, play first, or second?"

[Kindulas]

"I will go second," Jeeves says.
[Roll Knowledge]

[Lapis-Lazily]

"Very well."

Volker examines the board carefully, taking his time before making his move.

[Kindulas]

Volker finds that Jeeves is brilliant at the game, and knows his moves beyond simply tactical knowledge. However, at the end of the game, both players are left with only a king.

Volker: 10+[10]
Jeeves: 12+5+[3]

[Lapis-Lazily]

Volker stares at the board astonished.

"That was the most rousing game of chess I've ever played. I dare say you know much more of the game than I. I believe it simple luck I was even able to keep up. A very good game Jeeves. Where did you learn to play so well?"

[Kindulas]

"I would not insult yourself so," Jeeves says, "While it is true I seemed off my game, you have proven yourself quite intelligent. As for how I learned to play, there are many intellectual pursuits I like to follow. Chess is a rather quintessential one, so it's only natural I study up. I have a way of making time for such things."

[Lapis-Lazily]

"Ah, I see. It is always good to make time for oneself, especially in times like these. I've found myself with less and less time for my other pursuits as one ideal has dominated my time and absorbed most of my energy. Still, I feel I must keep it up if I am ever to fully repent for the evils I committed under the banner of the Orzhov."

Volker's face is concentrated and somewhat cringed as he says this. A look in his eyes makes it very clear that no further inquiries should be made as to what exactly he is repenting for.

[Kindulas]

"I understand," Jeeves says.

[Lapis-Lazily]

"Shall we play another game?"

(If you want to do a time skip, just say they played several games and roll several knowledge checks to see the outcome of those games, and then on to battle!)

[Kindulas]

After nightfall, Sebastian summons the group to the main hall (the large dining room adjacent to the kitchen.)

Alright, it's about time I fill you all in fully on the situation. Normally, when the Rakdos come to down, finding them is the easiest part of the game. However, we have reason to believe there is a sect hiding somewhere here in town. We need to find them, and find out why they're being subtle. To this end, Volker has offered to do tonight's reconnisance. After that, we will send in he, Erin and Olnar, along with Jess to clean house. Vash will be standing by as backup. On that note:

Jeeves passes out small disks with a soul gem in the center.

These disks can be used to contact one another. The spirits within are bound to my will and can contact one another. Questions?

[Lapis-Lazily]

"I'm good with this. Shall anyone be accompanying me?"

[Nehiel Mori]

Erin raises her hand while floating off the ground. "Question, does everyone sing during the shower like Jessica?"

[Kindulas]

Um... no... any questions that are relevant to the mission?

[Nehiel Mori]

Erin raises her hand again. "Are we allowed to kill them?"

[Kindulas]

You not allowed to let them live

[Nehiel Mori]

Erin's face breaks into a wicked grin.

[Lapis-Lazily]

"I can oblige that. If there is nothing else to discuss, I would like to take Erin with me to help scout. Can you find a more stealthy form?"

[Nehiel Mori]

Erin nods. "Yes! I can become a cat!"

((Activate utility talent, Cat form!))

Erin shudders, then turns into a cat and hops onto the table.

[Lapis-Lazily]

Volker can't help but pick her up and pet her gently before setting her down and saying:

"We'll be off then."

before walking out the church and putting his hood on.

[Nehiel Mori]

"MMMerow!" Erin says, and paddles off after him, attempting to play with his robe when she can.

((Yes, I realize that we shouldn't be going without getting told where to go. Erin doesn't.))

[Kindulas]

We do have some directions we've been able to figure out based on disappearances and attacks. I'm not sending you at the whole district.

[Lapis-Lazily]

"I already know where they are . You think I spent the whole day staring at walls and eating paste? I decided to scout and I believe I've nailed them down. I'm taking Erin with me to get a stealthy position. Olnar has instructions in his room for a frontal assault with Vash. The combined effect should leave them stunned and easier to eliminate."

[Nehiel Mori]

"Meerow." Erin says, and rubs Volkers legs.

Volker keeps walking.
