MEANWHILE - [IC Thread B]

[Kindulas]

A top secret Simic project. Designed not to combine the best features of two creatures, but all the features of any creature. "NM73" was initiated and overseen by Zegana herself, until its... "Escape" a mere week ago. Knowing nothing of the world, it found its way to the acquaintance of a young girl and her curious, debatably unsavory cohorts. Currently, he had just entered an abandoned chapel in an impoverished district once owned by the Orzhov, since sucked dry of its funds. Despite how the outside appearance, however, the current room, which was under the main hall, appeared to be a make-shop Izzet laboratory. Nothing major, rather it was like an independent inventors work shed or garage. Cobbled together tables held a variety or buzzing, whirling, clicking and flashing gizmos. Or at least, they all looked capable of at least one of these things. Not all of them were on.

In front of NM73 was a young girl, no more than 16 with overalls, long brown hair, and one natural eye. Her right eye instead looked like someone jammed a telephoto lens into her eye socket. She leaned over and looked into NM73s face, dialing the lens back and forth with her hand. "What did you say you were called, thingy?"

[Nehiel Mori]

NM looks around, fascinated by everything its sees. Its current form is a rather androgynous humanoid, as if whatever created it couldn't decide on what to make it look like to it settled for 'like a person?' Its flesh is tight and gray, reminiscent of body suits worn by actors, and has a sight moist to it. Its covered in whatever clothing the young girl gave it.

Its slender fingers explore every inch of one of the de-activated objects on the table, fiddling with each loose or spinney bit it could find. Upon hearing the young girls voice NM snaps to attention, attempting to hid the object as if he hadn't been playing with it moments ago. Mimicking (+6 to persuasion) Zegana's voice that its heard before it says to the little girl

"NM-73!" It jumps up, and bows to the little girl. "In the tank, thats what they said to me!"

A golden glint catches its eye. "Oh! SHINEY!"

[Kindulas]

"No wait, don't -"
the little gizmo lets out a mild pulse of electricity

[Nehiel Mori]

NM-73 lets out a small "eep!" and jumps back from the jolt, dropping the object onto the table. It flexes its fingers back and forth where the shock struck him; engaged by this strange sensation it felt.

"Ooooh..." It wonders aloud, turning to look at the object and tilting its head to the side. Slowly, cautiously, NM-73 reaches its hand out towards it.

[Kindulas]

"No, I said don't." The girl picks up the object. "Now, NM-73 is a serial number, not a name. I'm guessing you're a simic production, though I have no clue what they've made you out of. We should get you a real one. For instance, my name is Jessica."

[Nehiel Mori]

"Jessica?" NM says, making a face that would be raising an eyebrow if it happened to have eyebrows. It leans in close, looking intently at the young girl and stretches out a hand as if greeting her for the first time.

[Kindulas]

"Yes, Jessica. Or Jess." Jess shakes NMs hand. "So, what do you know about yourself? You are Simic, aren't you?"

[Nehiel Mori]

"Well..." NM jumps back about two feet and begins to stroke its chin. "There was tubes. Shouting, explosions. Alot of people yelling at me. It wasn't nice. Though they did imprint language! I can speak! Or I can do this!"

((Activate A Thousand Faces))

NM begins to twist and contort; before falling on the floor and suffering spasms. For the next thirty seconds, NMs skin begins to rapidly change becoming more and more like human flesh instead of its grayish skin before. The clothing on its back is dissolved by the NM's fluids. Eventually, its finished its transformation, appearing as a blond woman. Standing up, she attempts to do a cart-wheel to the side; continuing to show off to her new skills.

NM manages not to break anything as he cartwheels around.
"Uhhh" Jess says, blushing slightly at the nude display. "A shapeshifter, interesting. The Simic aren't always gentle with their projects, though more so than the Izzet. Granted, they aren't used to dealing with living things anyway. Not counting elementals, at least, they don't feel pain. So, why are you here? Not, like, with the Simic?" Jess adjusts her eye again.

[Nehiel Mori]

"DUNNO!" NM yells, finishing her cartwheels by tumbling down into a heap. She stands up and brushes any dust of her skin.

"There were explosions. Bright lights. I don't really know! I just ran and ran until eventually I found myself in this liquid substance... Water I think? OH! WHATS THAT!" NM points at another shiny object glistening on the table. "ITS pretty!"

She runs over to the table and leans over.

[Kindulas]

NM notices a bowl of what appears to be liquid silver

[Kindulas]

"Oh nononono, not the quicksliver!!" Jess yells. "I really shouldn't have that out," she murmers as she rushes over to NM."

[Nehiel Mori]

Upon hearing Jess's words, NM steps back again and spins, to look at Jess.

"But... but... Its pretty..." She says, looking straight into the cyborgs eye with a frown on her face. Though it quickly becomes a smile again as she jumps up and says "BUT OKAY!" She then takes a look around the room, trying to notice all she can.

[Kindulas]

Jess takes the quicksilver and pours it into a secure canister. NM, on the other hand, notices a tall Tesla coil in the corner.

[Nehiel Mori]

*anime style* NM runs over to the Telsa Coil, stopping about 2 feet from it. "Whats this do Jess?!"

[Kindulas]

"It shoots lightning at things"

[Nehiel Mori]

"Oh." NM says, again a frown going across her face. "The other thing shot lightning too..."

She spins around once more, looking at Jess. "SO! What should we do now?! What things do you make? Things that shoot lightning? Why is my stomach rumbling?"

[Kindulas]

"I make a wide variety of things. Largely I work on myself," Jess says, tapping her eye "and other... stuff. And I, um, are you hungry?"
Jess and NM73 hear the sound of footsteps above

[Nehiel Mori]

NM shivers, and starts to rub her chest in order to provide warmth. "Hungry, yes, that was the word for it. Hungry and cold."

[Kindulas]

"Well I can probably get you some food then, any particular diet?"
You hear the muffled sound of a man who seems to be talking to himself above you.

[Nehiel Mori]

"HMMMMM." NM tapped her chin and tilts her head, thinking thoughtfully. "Well, I don't quite know yet. Fish fingers with custard perhaps?"

((Food seems to be a priority to her over muffled voices))

[Kindulas]

"Um well, I think I have some things for you..." Jess quickly ducks into a nearby room. "Don't touch anything," she says as she leaves. At that moment a thud and a cat yowl are heard, and a moment later Jess re-enters the room with a set of clothes. "I'll have to have to head to the pantry to find some food." Jess tosses the clothes to NM73.

[Nehiel Mori]

NM-73 inspects the clothing Jess tossed to her.

[Kindulas]

"You can put them around your body, it will keep your warmer, like this:" Jess tugs at her own clothing to reveal how it isn't actually a part of her.

[Nehiel Mori]

NM continues to look at the clothing quizzically. She slips the shirt on over her head, then takes it off. Then back on, then back off. Eventually, she walks over to Jessica and begins to tug at her shirt attempting to lift it up out of curiosity.

[Kindulas]

"Hey no, don't do that! People aren't usually comfortable not having something like this covering much of their body, not where people can see them, so don't take anything off me."

[Nehiel Mori]

"Oh." NM says, then goes back to examining her clothing. She lifts up each of the various pieces; attempting to figure out how they fit on.

[Kindulas]

"Here, let me help," Jess says, and help direct NM in fitting the clothing.

[Nehiel Mori]

NM looks at herself once dressed.
((trying to figure out what this clothing actually looks like bro))

[Kindulas]

She finds herself in baggy tan pants and a black tank-top.

[Nehiel Mori]

"I am less cold..." NM says, looking herself over. "SO what now?! I am still 'The Hungry"

[Kindulas]

Yes well, follow me and I'll find some food. If you're still cold at all, especially since that doesn't cover your shoulders, I can probably find a jacket as well.

[Nehiel Mori]

NM smiles and runs behind Jess. "I am following now! Lead the way Ms. Pretty cyborg lady!"

[Kindulas]

Jessica chuckles as she leads the way out of the room and into a small hallway. "So, you're an escaped experiment too, huh?"

[Nehiel Mori]

"I don't know!" MN says with a grin. "Maybe! All I remember was warmth, a tube. And not warmth like this." NM lifts her shirt up slightly to explain. "Like a warm... wet... thing. Then there was the yelling, the shouting. I don't know what happened."
